This morning I saw 7 different gobblers and only one hen. Five of the gobblers were in line behind the hen, who led them directly into a path of #6's. I don't suppose that I should complain, with our local population being weighted heavily in favor of longbeards, but somebody has to lay the eggs for next year! Has anyone else experienced this skewed ratio?

Had that back in '96 when TWRA trapped 60 hens and 15 jakes off the farm next to me. The few hens left were absolutely pestered to death by the gobblers.

Anyone could squawk on a call and they'd have 3 or 4 LB's in thier lap within 5 minutes that year. My record that year was calling in 8 LB's at once the 3rd week of the season.

i WISH i had that problem lol

went out to a buddys spot the other day to call for him and had 1 LB and 18hens out....try and call that dude hahah

I tried to be as SLUTTY as possible with my call and he didnt even say a word.

I certainly don't believe that our place is "overrun" with gobblers. lol The sex ratio just appears to be weighed in favor of the males. Maybe the hens are/were off laying somewhere?, which I seriously doubt. It could be that they were in range of that one hen, no others happened to be around at that moment, and she was the "bird in the hand". Also, I hope that my calling and my rubber hen was an attraction. However, when I have encounters with seven gobblers in an hour and a half sitting in one spot, I'll have to go with rsimms saying, "life is good".
