We had a game warden tell my son and I that if we wanted to bait a spot with corn that it was ok but we had to wait 10 days after the corn was all gone and then we could hunt that spot. Is that true ?
It says in the Hunting and Trapping Guide that its illegal to bait for turkey period !
So can we bait or not ?

As long as the corn/bait is completely gone for a total of 10 days.
You have got to be kidding me !
We could have been baiting all this time.
Heck we can wait until 10 days after the feed is gone.
Thanks for the reply.

Your welcome!
Illegal to hunt over bait here in TN. All bait must be gone 10 days prior to hunting said location.

It is feeding turkeys until you hunt over the site. Then it becomes hunting over bait.

ALL feed/bait must be gone at least ten days prior to hunting a site.

Please don't feed the turkeys unless you are buying certified aflatoxin free corn. Nothing will wipe out an entire population of turkeys faster. Turkeys are extremely sensitive to aflatoxin and risking losing every bird on your property just to perhaps increase your chance killing a couple isn't worth it.

PRB,

heard there was a dad & his minor son that got busted down your way saturday morning for baiting. You hear anything about it?

Son was hunting & dad was just with him

Baiting is so common it makes me sick. Mostly hearsay and unconfirmed but you know it's happening. I saw it happening last year and reported it but officers had so many reports they couldn't be at all of the sites.

Same here. Not sure how anyone would get a thrill out of waiting for a turkey to show up to a bait pile, but I know several that do it and send out pictures of their turkeys and brag to their friends like they're the foremost authority on turkey hunting.

I do not want them to legalize corn period, but if they ever did, I hope they still make it illegal for turkey. Deer will adapt to the pressure and come to the feed stations at night. Turkeys cannot move at night.

Anybody could probably limit out in the first week of hunting if they hunted turkeys over corn.
