I never thought Saban would play a Freshman at Quarterback. Rumor has it that Kiffin talked him into it. From what I saw last night it was the right decision.
Look out yall...Alabama really hasn't had a top-shelf Quarterback during the Saban Era. This could be an amazing year. :super:

They might have two quarterbacks. Barnett was looking shaky at first, but I blame that on the o-line; they were giving him absolutely no time. After the line got their stuff together and they brought him back in the third quarter, he threw some deadly-accurate passes.

Yea, but unless yesterday was a fluke of some sort, I don't think there is much Barnett can do that that Hurt cannot. Its great to have a proven backup though. However, now comes the tough question. If Hurt is named the starter as a freshman...what do Cooper Bateman and Blake Barnett do? Do they hang around and continue to compete for the starting role...while serving as a backup or transfer. Surely both won't hang around.

Bama played 2 frost QB's that looked better than most of the other SEC starting QBs. that's kind of scary

I agree -- unless Hurt just crashes-and-burns then it's most likely his job. If that's the case, then I see Barnett transferring -- he was a 5-star and he'll still have two years of eligibility left. Bateman might as well stay on as backup; he'll only have 1 more year of eligibility left anyway.

It's HURTS. Good grief, typical Bammers can't even get their QBs name right.

BTW, I loved Saban being Saban in his post game interview when asked about the QB situation :D !

Hurts had a good game. Lots of football to play still. Plus, the SEC has a few good DCs so we'll see as he puts more play on film and they start scheming for him.

You're right -- my bad, but not as bad as it could have been -- I almost typed HURD the first time; what a faux pas that would have been :rotf: .

Sorry, I don't pay much attention to Freshmen...especially freshmen QB's. Bammer has kinda gotten used to kicking everyone butt with a very mediocre quarterback.

Same here. I didn't think there was any chance Saban would play him this year, so up until yesterday I knew the Bama qb's as Barnett, Bateman, and "that true Freshman."

Not anymore. :D

Alabama "may" be even better than last year .

The youth and stamina and the fact Saban is looking to tie Bears record of National championships met drive them right towards another Championship
