Looking for a 1-piece base to mount a scope on my 870. I found one by weaver. Anybody use one and are they the only ones who make a 1-piece? Any advantage of a 1 over 2? I've just always used a 1 but seems a 2-PC is easier to find.

I would use a picatinny base personally.... gives you much more adjustability, but they are more expensive... EGW has some good ones.

The front hole can be questionable as there isn't much "meat" there to thread.... and if the screws are too long or are tightened down too far, you will essentially "pin" the barrel in the receiver because you are actually tightening the screw against the barrel shoulder.

Get a B-Square mount, I think that is what they call it. It fits like a saddle over your gun and then you mount the scope on it.

I would do that as a next to last resort, to having a gun drilled & tapped by a gunsmith. You have to remove the mount to take the trigger assembly out, which means you will have to recheck zero every time you take it off.... The screws seem to strip out pretty easily if you remove them often as they have shallow allen holes to keep the head at a low profile...

Been there, done that.... won't do it again... not to mention they can be rough on fingers if you aren't using some form of a pistol grip stock.
