Weird. Didn't look like the hitter was jawing or anything. Also didn't seem to admire the shot. Must've been something from before? No respect for someone who pulls a stunt like that. Act like a man and take your lumps. You gave up a tater. Get over it. Dude jaws at you? Laugh it off. Stupid... Even his own teammates didn't come to his defense when he hit him. Tells you a lot.
I agree, absolutely should be kicked off team and prosecuted. It does appear the hitter did/said something about the time he was rounding second though if you watch the umpires reaction. And the pitcher appears to maybe be pointing/jawwing as soon as the ball was hit.
Watching it again more carefully, you are correct. Hard to see but he does turn his head toward the mound and then you see blue point. Either way, can't go Waterboy on someone for words. Wait till he comes back to the plate and put one in his ribs like a man! lol
It does appear that the pitcher may have said something prior to the hitter rounding second, but not positive.
I am surprised though that that there wasn't a flag for targeting or at least hitting a defenseless player

The batter was suspended 2 games for taunting (apparently he yelled "F you!" at the pitcher), and all players from his team that came on the field have also been suspended 2 games. Which means they forfeited the next 2 games on their schedule - which were also against the same team.
