Bass Pro Accident

Haven't been on this forum in a while, but it's that time of year. Please excuse me if this has been discussed.

I was at a fly fishing store yesterday, and a group was discussing an incident where a dude at the Bass Pro archery shop accidentally cut some of his finger off with a broadhead while drawing his bow. The BP worker told the patron 3 times to be careful, but he wasn't.

This sounds bogus for a few reasons.

A. Why hasn't it been in the news?
B. Fly shops are notoriously FOS - I know, I tell lies there too. What would fly boys know about bow news anyway?
C. Why would anybody be shooting with broadheads in BP?

Anybody heard about this?
 
It was shooting a crossbow. He was told numerous times to keep his fingers under the rail. Blood all on the range...really good experience for customer and store. I liked it better when they didnt let people shoot xbows in the range. Many just arent use to shooting somethign like that and take it lightly.

I just left Bass Pro 3 hours ago. That is exactly what happened. When he was holding the stock of the Xbow, his left THUMB stuck up and the string took it off about half way down to the first joint. Just the tip end of it. Because of that they now make you sign a liability waver before you can shoot anything on their range.
 
Happened at EWA to a fella.Teresa tried to get him to read the manual but he didn't and first shot BAM.He turns and says "would ya look at that,I just cut my finger off."Took the tip of his thumb.He stayed calm while I got something to wrap it with but I thought his buddy was gonna hurl.Quick trip to the ER and all better.

Read the manual.
Now Everyone who gets a xbow is cautioned to keep their thumb down.
 
I used to work at BPS in Memphis, I worked in archery, The things you would see from guy's coming in there for the first time to buy a bow was incredible. I believe this happened. We had guy's shoot the lights out while trying to chocolate chip cookie the crossbow with an arrow inserted on the rail.....

Isnt that the truth! Haha...one summer a newbie know it all was training up and had 5 bows blow up in the store in 3 days. By the third day I would just move behind an aisle and wait...got to where I didnt even jump! A couple were his fault but most of the time it is customers that "have been shooting a bow since the 80's". You try and tell them bows now are a lot different but they dont listen. They jerk it back, hit that quick sharp let off and loose control.

I also had one guy almost shoot into the gun vault at the store. He was pulled back, turned to ask me something, hit the trigger. The arrow hit the side of the range about 2 feet from the bales, slid down the wall, through a 1/2 in gap and went 20+ inches through the drywall right by the telecheck. A guy was sitting there and I have never seen someone so white as when he came around the counter to tell us what had happened!
