Hey guys anyone having any luck with sightings or activity in this area? I have hunted here my entire life, put in over 5 miles Sunday scouting and am not seeing near the sign I would typically start to see this time of year. Our rut in basically Christmas until end of season down here close to the state line. Not looking for places to hunt or spots just healthy discussion. Thanks

Hunt in same area. Worst year I've ever had as far as finding decent deer. Don't know exactly what's up but it's not in my benefit.

I know we had a terrible acorn crop this year that's not helping much. I've hunted 7 times in several different spots that have produced for 15+ years and have seen one doe. Way slower than normal.

I hunt in Cowan and although I've seen several scrapes I have yet to see any chasing. Counted 14 doe last weekend and not a single buck. The fields around me are usually in corn or soybeans. Cotton was planted this year. Combine that with no acorns and it's a rough year. I can go some mornings and only hear 2 shots and I can hear everything in the valley

Which road are you going in on?

They are still here you just have to adjust to the current conditions. Deer will find food somewhere in the mountains, there are always a few acorns somewhere. I have burned alot of boot leather since the 1st of November. Find the squirrels and the doe, the bucks will show in the next couple weeks.
