just checked some cameras and for the first time in 15 years we got some bear pics. Might try to take one but not sure how to guess there size and if it's legal size to take. I am in a bear zone. Anyone know how large this bear might be?

I am curious to here some reply on this as when I looked at the regs I wonder how I would determine how much they weighed. Of course you could take a scale out them and ask him to stand on it for you

So how do you tell? I would love to say that I am such an expert that i guess deer within 30lbs but i am way off at times when i am in stand vs on the ground. I am conflicted to know that i would know if i get out east to hunt are there any dead givaways?

A head on pic would make it easier to estimate. The distance between the ears makes estimating size easier. What I'm seeing in the pics is a somewhat small pile of corn and a pipe that I'm GUESSING is either 6 or 8 inch diameter. If that's the case, that bear is not as big as some might think. Of course, I could be way off but I've handled plenty of them and I just don't think it's that heavy. However, it's a shooter either way.

I also looked at the pile of corn and size of pipe to begin with. It's a 6" pipe. Going going off that measurement, the pipe is over 36" tall.

Catchdog is right. Big bears look like they have really small ears and small bears appear to have big ears. Look at the sow bear with cubs. She is probably 130 -150 lbs. 90lb sow bears won't have cubs. Now compare her frame to the boars. He has a big head, stove pipe front legs, and a big sway belly.
