Bearded hens

Killed 4 or 5 back when i first started huntin. I see em all the time but dont kill em any more. Might as well kill em,I havent ever seen one with poults.

it's on my bucket list but I don't plan to go shooting every bearded hen I see. I would like to have one under my belt though.

I was just wondering because I did get one this past season , she had an 8 inch beard. I regret not having her mounted. I'm pretty sure shes the same one we had been seeing for the past 2 years. I can't say that I ever recall seeing any with poults either but then again our lease has so many hens I don't know how one could tell which babies belong to which mama bird.

I went years without seeing one, but year before last I ended up seeing 2 within a few weeks of each other during deer season. I drew back on one of them with my bow, but she busted me before I got a shot off..

I got this one two years ago

I guess you know for sure that is a hen now,but did you know when you shot her?
Tht is a beautiful bird ,

I would hope so, as it is illegal in Tn. to shoot a turkey that doesn't have a visible beard.... mature or not.

I don't fall turkey hunt, so I really don't think about it.... when I answered it never even came into my mind that maybe it was taken during a fall hunt.

:)
