Multi-beard thread got me curious.

I have never gotten too excited about beard length as it doest tell anything about age of the bird or anything else. All about the spurs to me and most I know feel similar. That said, i do put a tape to their beards when I kill them and I killed my longest yesterday. Now I'm curious; how many true 12" beards have yall kilt?

I think at last count I'm at 183 longbeards killed, and my longest is 11 1/8" long. Personally I've never touched one that was 12".

Most of my beards are 9"-10" I guess, I don't pay much attention to the beard

I've got absolutely positively no reason to tell a stretcher...none whatsoever. Years ago I killed a northern Missouri bird with an honest 13" beard. I'm a spurs guy though and never measure one unless it looks exceptional; jerk em'out and the nieces and nephews get them all for show'n tell.

You've never given me one reason to doubt you, and I've got buddies who've killed them longer then anything I've killed. No need to explain yourself any further, your word is good around here to me :tu:

Must be a bit more rare that I thought. I had never seen one in person before yesterday, but I haven seen as many as some.

Killed one the longest hair was 11 3/4, but just one. Most of it was in the 11 1/4 range. Saw a Osceola killed with one a little over 13" once.

My first long beard was 12.5 inches

Killed a few in the 11" range but mostly 9"-10". I have a bird that I cannot kill that we've aptly named "long ****" because it almost drags the ground when he's standing upright, lol. He's probably 4+ because i know I saw him during deer season 2 years ago.

Just 1 at or over 12", it was no bigger around than your little finger either. Had sharp hook and a leg band on it too. Killed several over or at the 11" mark. I don't even measure all my beards anymore unless I am doing some kind of contest and I think it might upgrade

personal longest was 11.5", killed a bunch in between 11-11.25

I've only seen one hit the 12" mark- a bird I called in for a friend back in '95.... Lot of turkeys called in and killed since then, none others hitting the 12"mark.

its ironic i found this thread just days after " found what seems to be the longest beard ive ever seen on a turkey in person....im guessing its 12" or more....thing is he wasnt strutting the video shows his beard and spurs are longer than the strutter (which is a 2 year old based on his spurs in the original video...but check it out...im going to try and get him in the morning

I like the thick ones. Length doesn't really bother me anymore and to be honest I don't think I have even measured the last 5-6 I've killed

I do like those thick ones swinging when he comes strutting in

(Man this is a very weird post if read out loud with no knowledge of original post)
