First off, I am not really a turkey hunter, but like to go on occassion. Me and Hillbilly hunter decided to go this morning. called one off roost this morning and he walked away after closing into 60 yards. Decided to hit another large farm down the road. after no response to calling and lots of walking, i spotted a strutting bird in a cut corn field. Hillbilly watched as i snuck into range. At 45 YRDS, I stood up and shot the strutter. He weighed 21 lbs and had 9.5 beard- 2yr old bird. Later in the morning we found another strutter and just about cut him off, but we were about 2 minutes to late. 1st bird with new gun- mossberg 535. it came with two barrels, a short barrel with cantilever and aimpoint scope and long barrel. opted for the long barrel. it patterns great. will try for #2 on saturday.
