For those of you who hunt big hardwoods on public or private, doesn't matter, be aware of the beech trees.
Done some scouting today and seems to me that there was more scratching under beeches than I've ever seen. I am well aware of turkeys loving beech nuts from my experience of fall turkey hunting in Alabama and also early spring in the hardwoods in Alabama and Tennessee.
Maybe the beeches on the places I went had a big crop? Maybe there were no acorns? Maybe the turkeys are very hungry?
Just don't over look them when scouting or when hunting in mid day. Or anytime for that matter.
