I'm glad folks are killing turkeys, but I got to admit this has been the toughest year ever for me, with the exception of opening day. I've been hunting pretty hard this week. I hear gobbles at daylight but have only seen lone hens after fly down. Hunted public land yesterday and set up where they normally roost and around 6:15 one gobbled about 75 yards from me. Within minutes I had hunters on my left and right calling, then I hear him fly down. As soon as his feet hit the ground somebody shot twice. The turkey was between me and whoever was shooting.... I slept in this morning

Well atleast you are able to hunt. I just enjoy being out there

To be honest this has been a hard year for calling to me. Still not much action on my pieces after the hit the ground.

Yeah I've enjoyed getting to hunt so much. It's a first ever for me as my job requires me to work 7 days a week usually. I'm used to hunting for an hour or 2 and trying to hurry back to work. I've had all last week off and can work when I want to next week. Didn't mean to sound like I was complaining, just saying hunting has been very different than most years.

Here as well. Idk how to call quiet birds anymore lol last year theywere hot here and this year seem to still be henned up

so far I've only hunted 3 times this year and they seem to be vocal in the morning and evening. Occasional gobbling after fly down and before they fly up but they have been pretty vocal on the roost in the morning. Seen a lot of hens too including several lone ones.

Last year I killed 3 in 3 days on a new lease and this year is my 2nd season on this lease, well spoilt is a understatement. Been last saturday/sunday and thursday for my birthday and today and still no bird to boot. hearing em but there tight lipped when they hit hte ground and acting henned up, we heard on at 745-8 this morning gobble strong for 10 minutes 4-5 times but he was 8 billion miles on the other side of the mountain and shut up by the time we got the bottom, I dont mind going up anyways but why bother if he is with hens and not gobbling anyways????

Going in the morning before church I need a sign, what to do what to do!

With that being said I am convinced the toms were breeding early/mid march and this is like a turkeys may IMO

to all you guys killin em pour it to em I just aint having any luck
