Last year was my first time ever turkey hunting. I am still working on my first one. This morning before day break I was able to get close to some roosting birds. They gobbled while on the roost, but as soon as they flew down they went silent. Never did see them. Anyone know what might have happened? Did I run them off? I did some light calling with a box call but didn't think I over did it.

Did you call to them while still on the roost? If I had to guess I'd say by them going silent they were roosted real close to hens and you had the real thing for competition.
