Best deer caliber for any situation
lot of people recommend the 30-06 for its versatility as wellBest is so subjective, but I'd say go with a .308, plenty of bullet choices on the shelf and will kill anything in this region. I personally like the .270 for it's overall ability to be used anywhere in North America, but I reload so bullets are not a problem
ExactlyYou're going to get 10,000 opinions here...soooo.....the best caliber is the one that feels more comfortable to you. From .243 on up will take down a deer without any problems.
Yea, back in the day it was THE caliber of choice out west, but the .270 is flatter shooting and can be loaded up and down the weight scale depending on animal. I started using the .308 for the past few years because I rarely have a shot beyond 100 yards and my Rem700 is very accurate at that range. I still like my .270 but my bullet of choice has become scarce so saving it for when I get a chance on bigger game.lot of people recommend the 30-06 for its versatility as well
Can't knock that. A great caliber and rifle.I know my opinion will not be popular, but I prefer a .243 Winchester. Handy as a shirt pocket.

my nephew started out with .243 as a youth hunter and still uses one now, he has killed alot of deer over the yrs with hisI know my opinion will not be popular, but I prefer a .243 Winchester. Handy as a shirt pocket.
I mean I wouldn't be against hunting with a magnum but I have always used a 30 caliber gunWhat is your recoil tolerance
Really, as far as deer go, a magnum isn't really necessary. Now if you are planning on larger big game animals in the future a larger caliber would be better all around. For deer I have used .243, .270, 30-06. Also have used .50 cal. PRB muzzleloaders. Even used a 7.62x39 sks for antelope.I mean I wouldn't be against hunting with a magnum but I have always used a 30 caliber gun
