I know I shouldn't use "best" and "cheap" in the same sentence but is there such a thing. I've always just used a remington extra full and winchester or Kent 3" lead. Pattern is decent out to 30yds but after that it opens really wide. Shot a bird at 45steps the other day, didn't realize he was that far and probably just got lucky. But would there be a decent cheap upgrade that would pattern these type shells well? I know every gun is different just wondering if there's a cheaper option out there that would give me a decent pattern out to 40yds or so. Ok I've used the word cheap enough...

Primos tightwad. My local shop sells them for $22. They're good

I should have said that I have killed out to 60 yards. That is something that I don't try it just happened because I misjudged the
distance, but It patterns great at 40 yards.

Tightwad was pretty outstanding in my 11-87. Haven't tried it in my 870 though.

I shoot it out of my 870 SPS turkey and it does very well for the money

The old Tridot or Tristar??? can't remember the name , that Wal Mart used to sell for $20 bucks...I bought five one year on clearance for a dollar a piece...sold all but one and hunted with it for several years. Almost as good as the tightwad I shoot now...

Good for the money, if you can find them.
