i have some hs strut that i like but they tend to not sound as good when i call for a while with them looking for a good set for a good price. waht would be yalls recomendations?

I like the Preston Pittman Black Diamond or the Lightning calls. I actually prefer the sound of a good slate over anything.

i use a slate alot to but i really like the hands free idea lol bagged my first ever long beard opening day using my mouth calls seamed easer being able to have your hands on the gun. Thanks.

i just bought a primos sonic dome(single reed, double cut) for around $6, it has a good sound. I called in 3 gobblers Monday morning with it. I also prefer the sound of a good slate, but i've but busted too many times while calling, its just too much movement if you don't hunt from a blind.

my current 2 reed homemade bamboo tube... lol... cost me next to nothing to make and sounds real good and raspy but not too raspy. I only say it's the best for the money because it cost hardly anything to make. Last time I used it, I clucked and purred which convinced a hen to come within 5 yards of me and look around clucking and purring trying to find where the other turkey was. she didn't even notice me while looking straight at me. If only that were a legal bird, it would have been dead on the ground without a head. I can only guess what my pattern looks like at 5 yards

My 2 favorites are the woodhaven red wasp and pittman black diamond.

x2

Preston Pittman's Flock (set of 3 mouth calls) is your best bang for the buck. I bought them for $15 from Gander Mountain in Bowling Green, KY before the season.

Woodhaven's are great too just more expensive.

I started using some calls from, Dan Kendall Calls, very impressed with them. I use to be a cane creek guy, not no more.

Hooks is about the only brand I'll buy anymore.

I have to agree with this !! I had no idea there would be that much difference between a production call and a custom made call until I ordered me some Hook's  I will never buy production diaphram calls again if I can help it, I plan on experimenting with some more custom but as of now Hook's are some of the best I have bought.
