heart ? lungs? .... reason iam asking is bout a week or so ago i shot a doe , best shot ive ever made on a deer with a bow ! perfect broad side heart shot , seen the deer run off with the arrow in it so must have hit other shoulder coming out anyway, found blood but very little until the was nothing . looked and looked and looked for this deer and still haven't found it . i just dont get it ! so iam starting to think lung shots are the way to go

With a bow or ML I'm looking for a true broadside double lung shot that will pass through and bleed out, I've just seen too many lost (only one personally) on other shots. I heart shot a buck last year with a 300, he only went about 30yds DOA but there was no blood anywhere, not even where he went down.

From an elevated position, with the deer standing broadside, slightly quartering away, you want the arrow to pass through a few inches behind the near shoulder, a little above mid-point (hi-lo) in the deers rib cage, angling forward to exit in or slightly behind the crease of the off shoulder at a lower angle than entry. This is a double lung shot.

It all depends on the shot angle and how the deer is standing . Broadside , quartering away , etc.
Aim for the exit that will take out both lungs.
