Best turkey gun.

Got someone thats owes me and wants to pay with a gun. he says just let him know what i want and a good turkey gun is the only thing i would use. what do yall suggest?

If money is no matter I would get a super black eagle2 or and extrema2. Both are top notch awesome guns for turkeys and anything else you ever wanna shoot.

Somewhat lower in price but great guns I'd go with the browning silver or Winchester sx2

If I could buy any gun today a SBE2 with both stocks would without a doubt be my purchase.

I'd milk it for all it's worth. SBE would be my last choice for a "dedicated" turkey gun but it does make a great all around gun, been using one for 11 years now. I've always thought an over and under would be the ultimate turkey gun. Short receiver would make a short overall length and have a short range and a long range barrel. Two things a SBE can't claim.

Benelli M2, available with a shorter barrel and throws a wicked pattern. I have a SBEII and it is a great gun, but I would love to have a shorter barrel.

The honest answer to your question, is whichever gun fits you best and shoots the best pattern. The most consistent patterning guns I have seen over the years are standard 870's, not the super mag, just a standard 870 is hard to beat IMO.

If you go with Benelli, take a look at the 24" bbl SBE2 (link below) for turkey hunting. I'll add that a good friend of mine that shoots both the SBE2 and the Xtrema2 prefers his Beretta for turkey hunting. I do not own either, I've always been a Rem 870 SP guy.

I have shot a SBE since 94 and it is a great gun, imo much better than the SBEII. However I think it would be hard to beat the Winchester X3 with the duracoat finish and back bored barrel. A bud of mine has one and it throws a mean pattern with very little recoil, unlike my SBE. Good Luck!!

i disagree with this, but to each his own really.

I have yet to fully understand a good definition of BEST and DEDICATED turkey gun. Some throw great patterns but are heavy and kick the living snot out of you so if you are looking for the best patterns in the #'s world then the answer is going to be different then the looking at it as the best overall gun taking into account patterns, quality of the gun, reliability ect...then the answer may be way different then the previous question. I personally dont own or care to own a shot gun that all it is good for is turkey hunting but then again i can see some doing it if you have money not being used.

All i am saying is if someone owed me BIG then i would get the best gun i could get and build it up to be a turkey killer that can be used on the dove field or anywhere else i would enjoy shooting it.

SBE2 would be that gun for me with the Extrema2 a VERY close second. I only give the edge to the SBE2 because i am a huge fan of the inertia bolt and how easy that gun is to break down and clean.
