I'm only gonna get to hunt opening day and then have to be back in Texas the next day. Which WMA would I have the best chance of bagging a bird?

Y'all have a lot more in Hardin than we do in southern Lawrence and Wayne I will bet the farm on that. He (his parents) lives about 10 min away from me and we are void of turkeys.

I dont think I've ever hunted Hardin county, I think there's a WMA there now? Dry creek I think? Hardin is a border county I need to scratch off my list

There are a couple in Hardin Co RH.
110 Dry Creek & 136 White Oak. Never hunted either, Dry Creek is just across the lake north of me. Its between the lake and my lease. I may take a look around there this year just to see what's going on.

I'm not on a team Frank, when I lived in Hardin County I had a nice place to turkey hunt close to Horse Creek Refuge, sadly I don't have that 36 acres to hunt anymore. Had another good spot close to the golf course in Crump but the owner sold that. I've never hunted White Oak. Rode ATV's at Dry Creek, never hunted there though. Lawrence and Wayne counties have nowhere near the turkeys that are in Hardin.

BJ,
Noticed you can only be up this way for opening day. Of course that weekend is hot around here. If you can make it up this way again anytime during our season, you are welcome to come over and hunt with me here in Hardin. Even during the week is fine as well. The weekend before is the St. Jude's hunt for a cure, I donate my place for that cause. Have a couple from Arkansas heading over for this. Taking a couple of "yutes" out myself. Had them out for WT this season, they are hot to take a bird. Worked out well during deer season, sitting in a stand, a bunch of birds came walking by. No we can't take one of those yet, why not take that spike over there....... bang he did! :D Stay in touch.

Frank, as much as I would like to take you up on that I can't. Gotta spend this one day turkey hunting with my dad and brother before I leave out for afghanistan. Which is why I'm looking for a good WMA.

I salute you PJ!! Stay in touch, when you get back you are more then welcome to hunt with me anytime. Bring dad and brother along. Needless to say BE CAREFULL over there. If you see a bad guy in a turban, think of him as a multi bearded turkey.

If it was any day but opening day I would be honored to have one of our military heroes hunt with me. The problem is on opening day every goober in our club with a shotgun will be out for their one "turkey hunt" of the year.

Thanks, it means a lot. But everyone puts in the time, effort, and money to be able to be successful on their hunts, I don't want to take that away from anyone. Just want to enjoy some time with my family chasing birds on public land.

BJ,
Just a though here:
Sure we invest a lot in our locations "BUT" no where need what you gays have on the line. Our turkey don't shoot back !!!!! Keep in touch, we will ........ God Speed. We get to do, what we do, is because of you and your team do.
