I hunt a wingbone quite often. Never tried a trumpet. Met Jamie Buice, Billy's son, up on the mountain this morning. He's up here till Tuesday hunting and guiding some fly fishing trips on the Hiwassee . Had a real nice trumpet around his neck that sounded really good. Talked for a while and put in an order with his old man for an Osage Orange trumpet. Anyone here have one of his calls and how do you like them. Seem like really good people, as well as old school turkey killers ;) I put him on a Gobbler to hunt tomorrow morning. We'll see :)

I know James really well, his pops makes a gorgeous call.

Hiwassee that is. I figured you would know him Captain. Big into trout fishing and turkey hunting. Very cool dude and an Old Schooler like us :) Not many of us left ;)

I own several trumpets, but don't own a Buice. He makes some scratchers that you may want to inquire about as well. Good luck with the trumpet, put it to good use, and let us know what you think about it.

cowhunter71 - sent you a PM.

That is really really cool!
I've heard his are cream of the crop.
I don't own a trumpet yet but hope to in the future.
Can't wait to see pictures of yours.
Good luck with it.

Maybe....

Jamie had asked me if we see any grouse around and after seeing that you knew of him, I asked if they knew who you were the next day. I mentioned you were from Knoxville area and that you were a serious turkey and grouse hunter as well as a trout fisherman. They said that must be weasel :)

If he keeps talking about all the grouse he's seeing I'll be in his spots :rotf:

ch71 - just sent you a novel through PM addressing the question(s) you asked. Don't cuss me, but you may need a cup of coffee to get through it..... :)
