I went to a "new" farm Tuesday morning in Trousdale county and heard absolutely nothing on the roost. I moved to a couple of different vantage points and still nothing. I left that farm about 9:00 and headed to another location in southern Macon county. Along the way, I saw birds in 6 different fields with strutters and hens. So when I got to the 2nd farm of the day, I immediately started glassing the hilltop fields and sure enough, I spotted 2 strutters with hens. It took about 30 minutes to slip around on them through the woods. One short, soft series of yelps on the glass call got the hen's attention and here they come. The first longbeard to give me an opportunity is the one I took. He's a 2 year old with a 9 1/4" beard and 13/16" spurs. My girls are out of school for spring break, so I'm gonna spend some time with them for the next couple of days. I may get back after the turkeys Friday morning if it works out. Good luck to all.
