Anyone ever call in a peacock? On 2 different mornings I've called in one along with a few turkeys and he strutted around in front of me like he was king of the flock. I've also called in a couple of white birds.

I killed a turkey saturday that was in a pasture edge with a peacock. They both strutted around and the peacock would scream and tge turkey would gobble. This went on for over 30 minutes. When the gobbler finally ventured close enough for a shot, I had to wait for the peacock to clear. It was pretty cool.

I've heard of it and would love to see that happen. Apparently peacocks don't know turkeys from their own kind

A buddy of mine just recently had a peacock show up with a group of jakes on his property. He has no idea where it came from.

Interesting. Are these peacocks wild you reckon, or someones pet that wanders off into the hills every so often?

they're pets that wander off

I would suspect they are feral or escaped pets. I don't ever recall hearing anything about a peakey or a turcock so I'm guessing they don't cross breed. It'd make for some interesting looking birds.

There's one down the road from where I hunt because I hear it everytime I'm over there. Never have seen it though.
I hear them sometimes too. I guess a lot of people have them

there used to be several around melton hill lake and i had one walk across the field during a dove hunt in philadelphia

Back in the 90's I heard a bird gobble one morning, so I cut the distance to get set up. I was on a tree line with a small field in front of me. I called and he answered, but was still probably a good 150 or so from me. After a few he gobbled again at about half the distance. There was a rise in front of me at around 60 yds. A few more minutes and he was in full strut on the rise. He hadn't been there long when he stretched his neck up and was looking at a diagonal angle from me down the hill. All the sudden he takes off at a sprint in the direction he was looking. I eased up and got to where I could see. There he was about 80 or 90 yds. down the hill blown up right behind a peacock! I had never heard of anything like that. The peacock turned around and eased off across the field with the gobbler in tow!
