Black Fox

I was walking in to work today and a black fox walked out of the brush in front of me. It is the first time I have seen a black fox in Tennessee and it says they make up 0.1% of the fox population in North America. Has anyone one else seen one while hunting or in general in the area? I am in Chattanooga, Tn.

It may be a Coyote, the tail doesn't look like typical fox tails.

I agree on the coyote.
Silver phase foxes used to be raised commercially. They were about the same color. The only thing is they had white tipped tails.
They are a color phase of red foxes.

Yote. I killed a solid black one a couple years ago. Wish I could have mounted him. But ..wife..I mean life happens.

Never seen a black yote. Whether it was a fox or young yote, I can't tell for sure, but that's cool.

I saw one two years in a row in Scott County about twenty years ago. He was very close both times so I know it was a fox.

Tons of pics of foxes, but never a black one. Gotten several black yotes on cam.

We had this young Yote on camera several times. He ran into a load of #9 TSS later on in life trying to get a free turkey meal…..

Coyote ............look at the turn, ear size, body composition.....

I'd say coy-dog mix. Coyote/German Shepard.
