I bought the boys another xbow, it shoots 18 inch bolts. Came with three aluminum. I was going to buy a few more but all they had were 20' carbons.

They had carbon express Pyle driver 39.99 and Easton29.99 something.

Can someone explain the benefits or downfalls of using a longer or shorter arrow and what the quality difference in the bolts is. Or how to tell I'm new at all this

From what I understand if they are too long it doesn't matter except for the weight. I'm sure there are a thousand other reasons, but too long for the most part is okay. What you need to look at is the weight of the arrow and match it up. I have a little recurve that uses 18" aluminum. Those are usually pretty inexpensive and seem to work just fine.

On my Barnett Crossbows, I just buy what Barnett says is the right thing. I've tried some other brands of stuff but with mixed results on accuracy.
