My crossbow recommends 16" aluminium or 20" carbon bolts....which is better, more stable in flight? Accuracy?
 
If they recommend that length carbon arrow, I would go with it. Those things take a beating that would fold an aluminum.

I got my Barnett used from a guy who said it shot like crap. He was using 20" arrows.
Bought the recommended 22" arrow, and shoots like a dream.
 
I would go with the 20". I shot some 22" against 20"out of my Ten Point and the difference is surprising at 30 yards. The 20"are much faster and shoot flatter than I would have thought.
