So, I figured this would be the season I get my first bird. 2 weekends ago I got super close but couldnt break him from his hens. The little area I have to hunt has not had a single bird on it the past two mornings. No gobbles, no yelps nothing. 2 weekends ago was gobbling on the roost. Dunno if someone got him or what. This is really the only spot I know to go that has turkey that I am allowed to hunt. I tried public land at Point 19, but it was super quiet...put miles on my boots and didnt hear the first thing or see the first thing. I wont be able to probably hunt next weekend due to work. Think im about to hang it up. :(

Don't give up yet. Haven't punched my tag either and spent most of my time getting my son on one which hasn't happened either. Went to a friends place this morning and heard three. Got set up on one but couldn't get him to work. I'll quit on the last day but not until then.

Don't give up. my experience is as the season gets closer to ending people give up. that is when public land isn't so public. plus birds move around so they may stay on your place for a while then go to another farm for a few days, but may then come back.

I'm frustrated as well. But haven't given up. Opening weekend, I sat in a monsoon, to have 3 Toms 95 yards away.....and that was just the start. The next weekend, 2 Toms came to 60 yards...then this morning, was in early on a gobbler. He had to have gobbled within 50 yds of me in the woods, I plopped down and never saw him. After another 5-6 hours today with plenty of boot time, still couldn't get it done. Got 2 buddies that have tagged out....and right now eating a tag sandwich!

#DONTQUIT

I've been waiting for you to kill your first, and you won't kill any if you give up.... Keep at it and enjoy the woods

If you're still hearing/ seeing birds, HUNT. It'll happen for you.

Nope...not heard or seen any the past 3 times ive been out.

As for public land...the only close one I know by that MAYBE houses turkey (quiet ones if so) is Loyston point. Other than that im clueless on where to go public for turkey.

turkeys are entering a phase where they will be doing little gobblin, if any for the next few weeks. They are roosting with the hens, flying down, blowing up, and walking behind the hens all day long, and doing some breeding. Untill they begin to lay and nest, it will be a little tough. The gobblin is decreasing, but it will pick back up before long. Hang in there. Its just a bird. Believe me,Ive killed as many gobblers that never made a sound, as I have that gobbled. My guess is they are close, build a good blind, sit tight, call just a little, every twenty minutes or so. Have patience. Hard to do, but I promise,it works, trust me.

Never give up! I have taken a few birds without hearing anything all season. Took one a few years ago that never made a sound and I never touched the call. He just came walking by.
