anyone else have this trouble? i got a summit goliath and bought an open face top half, viper i think, and when i had to make a side shot it happened again. i guess i am going to have to turn seat to opposite side of tree and stay standing to remedy this.any ideas.bow is long and i am 5 10.

i position myself that the bar in front of me is even with my knee when i sit down.that way when i stand up, free and clear.ps.i also use a summit viper, love it

mine must not be a viper. because it has no bar in front. i am going back to the goliath upper half which makes climbing much easier and work out the clearance issue. i would have thrown it out of tree this morn but i figured i might need it coming down.lol

I had the same problem with my Viper. I just adjusted the
seat straps so it doesn't hang down and then do like Drumstix said
and position the top as close as possible to my knees.

I bought a Summit Razor top half and it fixed that prob for me. It is a open front, but has a bar that comes up to sit on when climbing up or down the tree. Plus, I also went to alot shorter ATA bow, which didnt hurt either.

I have the Summit Buckmaster, basically the viper with front rail cut off. This year it is the razor ss. Anyway I had the same thing happen last year, got a new bow 29 ata and it didn't happen this morning. Not that it helped much, swing and a miss for me

I raised my seat and when I am getting set i make sure my seat is at my knees too, other wise it is too high.

Love my summit but with mine it has the same set up as the new Razor but I had to put the gun rail on after market and they make it a little hard to stack. Any ideas about this?

I like the open shot seat for bowhunting. It doesn't have any armrests to get in the way for seated shots to the side . When I use the Viper seat , I adjust the seat as high as it will go on the platform and position the platform at knee level for standing shots .

mine is the same as an open shot but older.i guess i got used to an older fold up seat loggy bayo the deer came up and presented a shot to my right, right over the sidearms.i can remember the days when i did nt sit down bowhunting.older and lazier now. lol! at 45 still love to play in trees.good luck and thanks for the help.

My opinion is...no rail equals a clean free shot..safety harness and belt...lean out and bend at the waist..with a bow in hand I do not do rails..I'm only 5 ft.6..rails don't work for me when shooting a bow.

I have a API Bowhunter i thinks the name

archery season i raise the seat as high as possible and during gun season i will lower the seat about half way

used it again this morning and did nt get a chance to sit down before i sank an arrow through a doe. went 20 yds and piled up.yee haa

just set the top portion of the stand closer to the platform. simple as that.

Yep.

Im 5"11.

I got the seat in my viper low as it will go and my knees come close to hitting the rail when I am sitting down. 20 foot up I can kill them dang near right under me.

I missed a 6 pointer last week becuase my bow hit the top rail. Needless to say I lowered my seat a lil' ways so that won't happen again. Hopefully...
