Anyone built their own? I'm bout to build on with trailer jack
ya that's alot like the older apple pressed . I would not build one like this nowadays like you said . If I were going to build one myself I would built an EZ press type and not the X Press type pictured . The EZ press type are alot easier to build I think .Grill-n-man said:20+ years ago our press was built with a boat winch and rollers. All you need is some good strong steel square tubing ( would suggest 3"-5" ), 2 pieces of steel poles to mount the rollers to, 2 pieces of square tube with an inside diameter bigger than the base tube so it will slide, couple of bolts and nuts, and a welder. First, cut your base tubing about 4ft long, then cut 3 pieces of the other tubing you are going to slide over the base about 6" long, now drill a hole in the center of all three pieces thru one side, weld the nut over the hole and start bolt ( this is the position set bolt ), now weld the winch to one of the pieces, next assemble the boat rollers on the end of the two poles ( remember to allow for winch height and handle when you cut these to length, now weld the two poles to the remaing two 6" pieces of tube, slide over base tube ( one on each end ), now weld a piece thick enough to allow all 3 pieces to slide without contact with work table one on bottom of each end of base tube. Pretty much done. NOW this was used 20 years ago and worked just fine but there ain't no way on God's green earth I would use one now. These home made ones work for an occasional job but they ain't the safest. Also they void the warranty of any and all bow manufacturer not to mention they are dangerous. Good luck with the build and if you go with a homemade one never get relaxed around it.
