Looking at possibly getting into bow hunting. I've never done it before. I've shot a bow a little bit in the past but nothing that was ever the right size or draw for me.

Looking for information about a good place to start looking as far as a retailer who could set me up with an entry level bow that is correct for me and give some direction as to shooting it.

I live in Kodak but work in Knoxville.

Thanks for any and all help.

There is a shop in Seymour/Sevierville area. I think the name is Smoky Mtn. pro archery. I am drawing a blank on the others this morning.

I don't know anything about bows... not sure what draw length or anything I would need.

Got to get somewhere they do fitting and instruction.

If you think of the one in Sevierville, let me know. I'm gonna look online and see if I can find it myself.

Thanks

You need to know your draw length. I'll probably have a Hoyt Katera 29" fully rigged for sale here shortly. $500. Only thing you'd have to buy is a trigger release.

I live in West TN so I don't have any recommendations on shops but I would go with a pro shop rather than bass pro. Have them measure you for the correct draw length then shoot several different bows first prior to any purchase. The more bows you shoot the more you can feel the difference in the bows. Then find the one that fits best for you. after hunting season I would recommend joining a 3-d club or indoor league. Archery can be more than just bow hunting and is a lot of fun.

Thanks. I have no clue what length I need. I'm 6'4" and about 290 pounds with pretty long arms. I guess it will pretty hard to match up with most guys. Got to get some time to ride around and visit a few shops. I'll probably check out Bass Pro Shops since I'm so close. I really don't like that place. I order most items on the internet from Cabelas.
