I really need to buy a new target this year and I don't want to spend the money that a BLOCK costs. What is everyone shooting? I don't want a bag target either. I read on BPS web site that their Red Head layered target has gotten some good reviews.

I have not found a cheap broadhead target yet that will stand up to repeated use with broadheads . The Morrel yellow jacket targets are okay .

I use the redhead block look alike target that your talking about.I Bought one last summer and shot it all winter and spring with alot of broadheads, started getting passthrus in the spring,I put a rachet strap around it and got another 2 months of use out of it,I just threw it away last week, and I bought another one, for $40 you can't go wrong with it.I really like them.

Wal-mart is selling a block shaped target for 39 bucks.

If that aint cheap enough go get you two 3 dollar hay bales and a can of spray paint.

:D

yea i busted through that one in about 10 minutes last year, they gave me another one, but obviously the same thing happened, so i then convinced them it wasnt the target and i got my money back

I know you said that you didn't want a bag target, but I will tell you the RedHead Deluxe Bag target, from Bass Pro, is great for field points and inexpensive as well. I shoot every day and mine lasts about a year and a half. I believe that Morrel make them for BPS. Just for what its worth...

I am not a fan of these "block" style targets. I had one of the originals, when they first came out, and my first shot sent an arrow buried up to the fletch in it. After that it didn't take long to be completely shooting through it. Then I got a great deal on a barely shot Block 4x4 that didn't even last half of the 3D season. It was an insert robber too. Truthfully I've not found any of them to hold up long with even field tips...and I know shooting with broadheads would only double or triple the attrition rate on them.

My next target, in which I will be buying here in a week or so, will be a Morrell Range bag. The ones I've seen at the local 3D shoots have been there for 2-3 years and took many thousands of hits, have been out in the weather the whole time, and still look good and are stopping arrows.

they all tear up,but the original Block lasts longer then the cheap ones I have bought.
I buy 2 every year
