I'm thinking about investing in another hub style ground blind for deer season.

Do any of yall bow hunt with any level of success out of a ground blind? I've tried it before and I learned very quickly that deer spook at a blind so setting it up before season is imperative.

I prefer to be in a stand but since my young one is tagging along with me on most hunts the ground blind would allow us to bow hunt early season together.

we've had some success out of it. deer are very weary of a blind. put it up early and brush it in and when you think you've got enough brush add more. that's when we have had luck out of them.

Hunting from a blind for turkeys is a chip shot compared to trying the same for deer hunting!

For deer hunting the blind should be up and brushed in for at least a week before trying to hunt from it!!! Windows should be closed, netting should be down and be sure to take extra care that you do not get backlit in the blind!

Take care to monitor the wind when you place your blind and use a scent killing spray on you, your gear, and the blind. Try not to over hunt the blind because of scent saturation!

The longer you leave the blind up the more likely little creatures and blind destroying rodents will want to move in and make your blind their home! To combat the pesky rodents I take a big shaker of fresh red cayenne pepper and shake it around the entire edge of the blind material where it touches the ground. If you're thinking the red pepper deters snakes from slipping their heads under the blind....you'd be wrong, but it does slow the rodent down!

Thanks for the tip on the cayenne pepper. I've never heard that one.

I prefer to bowhunt deer from the ground using the natural surroundings. Never had much luck in blinds, but have without while on the ground.

I always have the best luck setting it up under a low overhanging branch the morning of the hunt. i just show up extra early and set up. I have good luck in a light rain also

I believe its ameristep that makes it, its a junior blind that's 36x36x36 and I got it at academy sports last year for $20, its got shoot thru windows too. Perfect for a sidekick. Set you up a spot then pop it open and done. But as far as a big blind I use treetops from blowdowns to hind mine and set it up when I hunt.
