I need to replace the strings and cables on my alley. I want to stick with what I know I like...stock string. So what is the best way to get stock string and cables. I'd rather not order through my local shop because I don't get along with them very well, but will if I have to.

Here locally the BowTech guys are switching to ABB (America's Best Bowstring) strings and cables. I have a set ordered for my 82nd myself.

Never heard of ABB, but I have never been one to follow trends. I bought a 101st that had aftermarket strings on it(not sure what they were), and I don't like them as much as I do my stock string and cables on my alley.
I think I'll just stick with the stock set up. Hey if aint broke don't fix it.

PSE has ABB on their pro series bows. Very good strings. You might get lucky and buy direct from bowtech, but I bet they suggest going through a dealer.

Good luck getting anything from BowTech if you gotta order it! This discussion came up while I was down at Benton last week. When I got my 82nd, they ordered a set of 28" modules for me. That was back in December and as far as I know they still haven't came in. I got lucky when Jeff found a set in his module box already at the store. But they were talking about two guys that came in the store and wanted a 50 pound 82nd. Jeff ordered it for him and after about 7 weeks the bow still hadn't came in and when he'd call about it, they'd tell him that it would be there in a couple weeks...and a couple weeks would come and go and still no bow. The guy got tired of waiting and canceled the order. I don't blame him a bit. But that's not the first of slow customer service that I've heard about in the last little bit. That could be the reason for the changes up top at BowTech.

Unless the dealers already have them in stock, I'd just about bet you are going to have to get an aftermarket one ordered to have it before this time next year :D

Well I have had one experiance with Benton and it was not a good one. I asked if they could ship me a set of mods for my 101st and he said it would be no problem that they had them in stock. I waited three weeks and had to threaten to cancel the order before I got any action out of them.

Might not be Bowtech on this one. But to each his own.

If I can't get bowtech to get them to me I'll get my buddy who shoots on thier pro staff to get it for me. LOL

It took 3 weeks to get my strings in. But I know for a fact they were ordered on the day I left my bow. Not to bad but Jeff told me 8 days.

I think it is bowtech being slow, I go to benton all the time. Nothing but good.

I have heard many people say bowtech is slow. I have never really had to order anything or have anything warrantied ect. (knocking on wood). But i have heard plenty of folks complain about the how slow to ship they are.

Can't rush a good thing though right?

Yeah I don't think it was Benton's fault at all for them being slow. I mean I was there myself when Jeff got on the phone with them to order my mods and you can't control what folks do on the other end of the conversation. I remember back when you called about the mods for your 101st. You gotta remember that Jeff idn't the only one that is behind the desk when you go OR call. Sometimes he goes far off to the ASA shoots and he's just finishing up his degree too, so that takes him out of there a little bit from time to time. He's the only one that really knows where stuff is in there and when someone fills in for him, it can be hectic. If the person working at the time just put your name and addy on a piece of paper for Jeff to deal with later, than it could have got misplaced or what not.

I got my ABB strings/cables put on down there today. It took just a week to get those in and they look AWESOME! I got red/black colors and the ABB strings/cables have a 1 year warranty on them against stretch and peep rotation. I figured I'd give them a shot for a year anyway. String was $30 and the cables were like $20 or $25.

that is no way,IMO, to run a proshop. But I asked if it would be a problem to ship those mods. Kid I talked to said they had them in stock. I gave them a CC#.

Put address on envelope and charge credit card. If the kid that is filling in for you while your hunting or shooting can't handle that then get better help....or tell the person who is asking "no I can't ship that"

Benton Shooters isn't an "archery pro shop". If you've never been, it's kinda hard to explain but it's really just an everything hunting/shooting related store; geared more towards a gun store with gun shooting accessories, but it has a little side section with bows and equipment. There are a few local pro shooters who know how to tune bows and set things up right, but they all have full time jobs elsewhere and sometimes they come in and help out during the "busy season". Jeff has been one of the few that's stayed around a while.

They've had a hard time keeping full time bow techs in there; mostly due to the above mentioned thing where it was just people to fill in part time, that had other full time jobs. If it was a "kid" you talked to, chances are it was just somebody filling in for Jeff that day. I'm not Brad so it ain't my business to run or anything. But I do tend to agree that a few people coming in to buy arrows every now and then don't really compete with folks coming in and standing in line to buy firearms profit wise. :)
