brand new slate call

i just bought a new slate call this year with a hickory stricker and i cant get the hickory stricker to do anything but i can make my carbon stricker yelp cluck purr anything but is there something i need to do so i can start using both stricker on my slate call.

use a Brillo Pad on the striker and the slate surface. See if that helps.
