Is brass picked up from outdoor ranges usable. I'm concerned about the moisture that might be inside. How do you over come this?

Yes, as long as it is not very corroded or smashed, they will be fine. Wet, or dry, tumbling will get them cleaned up straight away.

Thank you - I picture the range I go to covered with Xmas purchase shooting brass - and then we had snow. I'll visit in net few days and probably pick up 5 lbs of brass. Wondering if I should dehydrate before tumbling.

The media will clump up is it gets too wet, but will breakup after a bit some add a bit of car wax to their media which does just that.

As a suggestion pick up every piece of reloadable-brass you find. You may not shoot 7 mag or 243 or 9MM but someone else probably does. Trade, sell, give could be in the future.
