It seems most everyone uses 100 gram broadheads. There is some like muzzy that make 90 and 75 and slick tricks have a 85. What would be the reason to use a lighter broadhead and does anyone use a lighter broadhead? Just wondering.....

speed freaks mostly (not judging)...or lower poundage bows to get the correct spine for the arrows are the ones who shoot below 100. I know a lot of people who have been at this a long time that swear by 125's. It improves the FOC and correspondingly broadhead flight for a lot of setups.

I jumped down to 85gr for a while to gain speed and reduce the trajectory curve.
Kinda what I was thinking may move down and try it for myself and sorry its grain not grams that wrote. Thanks

I shoot 65 grain rocket expandables, I dont even think they make them anymore, the lighter the faster the flater, I only use one pin out to 40 yds so I have to have a fast & flat shooting bow, yes I lose kenetic energy but Ive only had one shot not pass completely through and that was last years buck that was quartering away at a steep angle

I WONT use anything lower than 100...many below 100 have a narrower cutting range. I currently use Rage heads cause of the 2" cutting range....This is my head of the present and years to come barring something i consider really better. The bows of today are plenty fast without going so super lite weight on the arrows and broadheads.....You still need kinetic energy or it is approaching throwing darts instead of slinging a lethal weapon. Too lite aint right! I like a little more weight and in the last 20 years of killing approx 40+ deer not one was a failure to "pass thru".....a traight i put a lot of weight into. i dont want a buck or doe to look like a pin cushion running off.
