broadhead weight???? what do you use and why. i bought some 125 gr heads...cut on contact, but should i be shooting heavier heads? why or why not?

depends, how's your flight?

there's a bunch of variables there. you havent given us enough info. such as, poundage, type and size of shaft and arrow flight.

i personally shoot 175gr but i am shooting carbon shafts out of my longbow and I needed the weight to weaken the spine so I could get good flight.

Every bow/arra setup is different. If you have an arra that is too stiff you can use a heavier head to change the spine. If they shoot out of your bow don't worry about the weight. Of course heavier arras penetrate better but 125's are pretty much the standard.
Some I use:
140 grain snuffer 3 blade
200 grain ace Super Express 2 blade
125 grain bear razorheads 2 blade

Well this is my first year with a recurve... now I know that my range is limited by my skill but also by downrange punch... So, even though my arrows fly well... should I be looking at a heavier broadhead (i'm shooting 125gr) to get extra energy on impact.... My bow is 49lbs at 28...just curious if it would hurt or help...

what arrow are you shooting? is your arrow weight 8to 10 grs per pound of bow wieght?

there's a 'happy median' to look for. too light, you're throwing pinp pong balls, too heavy and you're throwing bowling balls. good weight, good flight and hitting the boiler room are some of the key factors here.

I decided to try the Zwicky No Mercy single bevel broadhead this year at 165 grains. My Howatt Hi-Speed (45#s at 28") shoots much nicer with a 165grain tip than a 100 grain tip. I can also tell a difference in the force that is applied to the target.

I chose the Zwicky for the price. Otherwise I might have went with a nice 200 grain, but they are just too expensive.
