I have shot rage broad heads for about two years, they get good reviews and I have heard all good things about them. However, I really just don't like the fact that you can only shoot them once(like most mechanical heads). I have thought about muzzy phantoms or the muzzy three blades but I have heard that they require a lot of tuning, I don't mind but I targets shoot a lot during the season too so I would rater get something that flies true to a field point. Which leads me to my question what broad heads do you shoot? And what broad heads do you guys think shoot truest to a field tip?

If I have a trophy buck in range, I know I want a rage on my arrow. I know they cost more, but I'm not wanting 2nd best when I got a buck of a lifetime at 40 yds. The durability factor of rage is not the best, agreed, but I still want the most margin for error. I haven't shot many other mechanicals, other than rage and Swhacker, but rage seem to hit the same as my field tips.

Rocket Sidewinders
Cabellas Laser Strike
NAP Thunder Head 100
Razorback 5
Savora
Muzzy
Satellite
Tekan 2
Rocky Mountain Gator XP
Rocky Mountain Supreme
Rocky Mountain 1.5 expandable
Rage
Magnus Stinger 4 blade 100 grain
Bear Razorhead
Savora

I can't remember all the heads but these are a few over the past thirty years of bowhunting.
I have not only shot these heads, but I have taken MULTIPLE deer with almost all of these heads. And the few I never made it to the woods with, I was either on the blood trail, or in camp with guys who did use them.

All of these heads did the job. But some were VERY poor at it. In fact, I had a couple heads I would NEVER put back in my quiver. I will let a head perform bad ONE time. And we are through.

Choosing a broadhead for you needs to be personal. I do not endorse a promote any head based on selfish reasons. I am not sponsored by any company.

But I always consider a persons economic capability and shot frequency when recommending a broadhead. If the person shoots s bunch of deer every season, and or has deep pockets, some of the more expensive heads might be just for them.

If however, the person has little or no experience killing deer by arrow, then this same person might need to STILL consider some of the more expensive heads.

The largest cutting diameter, and MOST accurate shaving sharp head one can afford is the best head for anyone.

IMO rage are the most over hyped broad head ever made. Yes they are good heads but there are others that do a good job.

I shot the G5 strikers last year and really liked them. They were easy to tune and built strong. I am just not a fan of mechanical heads, with all the moving parts on a bow, if a deer runs off after I shoot I don't want to worry that something might have happened to the head.

Honestly, there are a few mechs out there that do as well, or better when you consider price, thatn Rage.

I personally like the BPS Gator XP.

I shoot Rage. If I shoot three deer with them that is $40 well spent. OF course replacement blades are available like most other heads.

I've got several different brands in my arsenal but none are any more durable once shot at a live target. Still got to either change or sharpen blades.........or you should anyway.

Wasp SST Hammer are the BEST fixed blade head I have ever shot. Very durable and fly like practice points. Last yr I tried Rage and was very disappointed. After losing a doe and and a turkey I switched to Shwackers and thats what I will be staying with as far as mechanicals go...but if the big boy steps out I want the arrow with the Wasp on the end of it...

Last Season, my son and I killed 17 deer with Magnus Stinger 4 blade 100 grain.
We then packed all 17 heads up, and sent them back to Magnus who promptly sent us 17 NEW heads AND a couple t-shirts.

It cost us ZERO.

THe heads have a lifetime guarantee.
