I shot with a few buddies today, and seem to be making some progress little by little.

The 6.5/284 shot very consistent and broke into my very first sub 2" group. I backed it up with another, and the 6/47 gave us all a nail biter with 4 shots UNDER 1" @ 600 yds.

I was pumped!!!

I shot a group about like that with my muzzleloader this morning... problem is it was at 100 yards :)

Congrats Tim, what does that work out to be... 1/3 MOA!

Maybe you need to take that rifle and a bench with you deer hunting this year.

What action and barrel was it that you built the 6.5x284 on? Evidently you got the bedding right. I know you had told in the past but I've slept since then.

Both riles have BAT actions. The Hvy is on a M, and the Lt is on a B.
The bedding on both were done by the same guy, and is considered by many the best in the business, Tom Merideth.

TiminTN,

What is your setup when shooting in regards to your 1st post? i.e. what type of rest, etc..

I use a Hart rest with their 1000 yd steel base, makes the front rest weigh right at 50 pounds. The top is a Bruno top. I use a 3" cordura bag sprayed with silicone. The rear is an Edgewood Mini Gator, filled with heavy sand, it has medium ears and the 3/8th stitch between them. It also is sprayed with silicone.
