I haven't actually shot a deer in 5 years. It was a nine point on the same spot as well. Both times were a promise to my dad to shoot the first deer I seen and both hunts lasted less than 30 minutes!

I ran down the ridge trotting right before day break and made some scraping noises. Got to the spot I shot the nine point and rattled. Rustled leaves and made a scrape, It was still barely light and I got a response even quicker than anticipated. A deer walked up less than ten yards but the thick briars I had buried myself in kept both of us from making I clear identification of each other. He walked down into the holler and heard another deer. Following through with the first deer promise I didn't look at his antlers in case he was small. I knew I'd wait to see what the other deer was and possibly kill nothing. Turned out to be a very mature 8 point!

Congrats! Lotta bone in the back of that truck.
The sheds are my rattling antlers and the other two are 8 points my dad killed on our farm. One was really nice. A mature deer he has spent many hours watching and was his declared target going into the year
