I just installed a Garmin Striker 4 (about $120). I can't compare it to others, but I have been satisfied the couple of times that I've had it on the water.

depends on your "budget", lol. all of the brands work well enough. do you need mapping or just a gps plotter? what style of fishing do you like, deep, shallow, suspended fish, etc. if you can wait a couple of months you can usually find some fantastic deals on last gen equipment as they will clear those out getting ready for first quarter new releases and
black friday and Christmas sales.

I upgraded from an old Eagle dinosaur to a Garmin Striker Plus 4, and for a cheap unit I am very impressed so far. It's all I need for locating good catfishing spots along the channel drop off. Also has GPS and shows speed while driving the boat.
