Butch better get a plan....


KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - The only hint Tennessee coach Butch Jones has offered about the status of the Volunteers' quarterback competition is that he isn't satisfied with the performance of each contender.
Senior Justin Worley and sophomores Joshua Dobbs and Nathan Peterman all struggled in the first week of training camp.
That represents a major concern for a Tennessee program that ranked 111th among Football Bowl Subdivision teams in passing efficiency last season.
Accuracy and efficiency have been issues for all three quarterbacks.
Jones said after Thursday's practice that "we're not playing winning football at that position right now."
Worley started seven games, Dobbs made four starts and Peterman had one start last year.
The three of them combined to throw 17 interceptions with only 12 touchdown passes.
 
He's leaving the door open so fans can question his decisions if the team struggles. I think you are right about him rotating QBs. Can work with the right guys.
 
What's happened to Worley,in the Peyton Manning passing camp this summer,he placed 3rd out of 40 QB's.Since we dont have a good QB,maybe Lane,Hurd and tight ends can shine.Worley surely can complete a short pass to the tight ends!WOW!!
 
When the team struggles, fans WILL question his decisions.
He will get it figured out just not sure it will be with what he has in the stable....

I been arm chairing this thing all day and figured out what CBJ needs to do.... Let the guys rest up and have next week off... :D
 
Forgot this,if Worley and Dobbs are playing the same,I hope Dobbs starts.Worley is gone after this year,Dobbs will be there for 3 years

Last I heard that Dobbs was taking snaps with the 3rd team at the last practice. Not sure how often they rotate Worley, Peterman, and Dobbs with the starting lineup.

I think he is giving them all a shot with each string.
I got an idea, CBJ can start Worley during first of season and then decide on Peterman to start against the Gators, oh wait, I think he tried that already :D
 
Yep... These coaches make it tough to know what's going on with most of the practice closed to the public\media. Sad I have to depend on Heather for the inside scope.

If only she was on TV in a bikini :D her reports would be better, but then that means Micky and Jeff may be in speedos :sick:
