I am planning on buying my son his first bow for christmas. He is 10 and I'm wondering what would be a good bow for him. Bass Pro has a youth Barnett Vortex that I'm looking at....but does anybody else have any suggestions?

I would take a look at the Mission Menace.

X2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You can pick them up at a very reasonable price--I've seen somem as low as 250. That bow will last him all the way until he can pull an adult bow back and then some, and it shoots like a dream also. It is completely adjustable without a press.

The Mission bow is very nice. I would also look at the Parker SideKick its draw is adjustable without a press. You can get it with 20-40 lbs limbs or 40-60 lbs limbs. Also when he out grows the poundage Parker will put stronger limbs on for only $50.00.

The Mission Menace has been a great seller for us, but Mission just launched their 2011 lineup and they now have a "Craze" model that's even more adjustable! 19" - 30" draw length, and 15 to 70 lbs. No press needed, and only $30 more than the Menace. Would last him forever!!

The Craze is sweet and I like the new cammo pattern.

i would not buy anything that Barnett makes... have never owned anything made by them but if you read about them they are kind of dangerous. strings and cables breaking...nothing i would take a chance on...

ok. thank you for all your suggestions

My wife shoots the Parker Sidekick extreme. We got it for 307 out the door. When your son outgrows the 20-40lb. limbs. You can send 50 bucks to PARKER and they will put a set of 40-60lb limbs on it for you.

Its' called Grow with Parker. lifetime warrenty on the bow, and not to mention its super quiet and pretty fast.

Was gonna say the Menace. I just went and checked them out at the shop for my stepdaughters friday. Now, I'm interested in the Craze. I know the menace is adjustable 15-52lbs and 18-30". Pretty sure that will last them forever. For a boy, I'd look at the Craze. Sounds like a better deal.
