Ok so I've wanted to try one of these for a long time but didn't want to spend the money AND I currently use one of the old Little Bighorn vests with the built in frame.

I tried out TN Joes (thanks brother) just to make sure it was something i wanted to test and decided to get one as a backup.

Came in the mail yesterday and man what a freaking nice vest. The pocket layout is perfect and isn't over the top on the bells and whistles. The actual kickstand part was different then the one TN Joe had (maybe the redesigned it recently) but it actually works very well and is not a pain in the butt to figure out. The seat is super comfy and I love the way it is easy to put away (although i wish it would stay a bit more tight when folded up but not a huge deal)

the fit on the kickstand model no longer comes in sizes it comes in one size fits most. I am tall and thin and when adjusted all the way up it fits me very well but has the ability to stretch out to fit bigger guys.

overall it is beyond my expectations, and while i have no plans of retiring the Little BigHorn vest this vest will get used plenty this season.

anyone looking for a new vest or wondered about this one IMO it is WELL worth the steep price tag! The built in call lanyard and gator clips are very cool and the overall access pockets for your calls and strikers is great!

I haven't used the kickstand version, but mine has the same pocket layout and as I've said before it is an outstanding product. It's well made and the pockets are pretty much perfect. I can live without the box call pouch but understand why it is on the vest.

Glad it works, and I may get the kickstand as my next one

yeah the box call part i don't care for as i don't use a box call but i will prob just use it as a water bottle holder instead (although it has one of those already on the side)

i got the kickstand version because you can remove the kickstand and just use the vest so why not have that option.

That's good to know because I ordered one Tuesday and got the email this morning that it shipped. I too have not wanted to spend the money but find leaning against trees kills my back the older I get so I figured what the heck.

worry no more, the back cushions on it are outstanding using the stand OR leaning into a tree.

I've had the same problem. I stuffed a partially inflated, rolled up Thermarest in the decoy pocket to provide a air cushion to lean against -very comfortable.
In the past I had put an old seat pad in my vest for that reason.

Awesome to hear.

just how it attached on the back and the adjustments on the fit...the pocket layout was the same and the seat was super soft just like the one you had (i thought you said the seat that came with it was not as soft and you changed it with the other Tater seat you had)

I'm really looking forward to trying the Cabela's kickstand vest this season. It's going to be great for when there are no trees in an area where I want to set up.

Breathable fabric that does not hold moisture! Why is this such a problem? Those things get hot and if you get caught in the rain, their weight triples AND they take forever to dry out.
The Super Elite III Treklite vest addresses these issues. The regular Super Elite III that was so popular is 60% cotton / 40 polyester. It suffers from the issues you mentioned. The Super Elite III Treklite is 100% polyester. The Treklite fabric is light and quick drying and the body of the vest is a breathable mesh design. It's the best warm weather vest I've found. The only problem is that it's discontinued. I would be on the lookout for a used one.

Got mine in today and at first I was thinking the lower part of the kickstand that is near your back should be on the ground too like the kickstand but figured out that wasn't the case. Still toying with it but is the key to the kickstand holding you good that the vest has to be fairly tight to your body? First thought your butt on the seat would keep it down but that didn't seem to work. In the past when I've sat down I've unbuckled my vest and if that's the case I won't be doing that. Not a big deal but curious. My first impression is they've though of everything.
