Sunday afternoon I made a swing through an area to check for some sign and maybe see if I could get one to gobble. I killed a big bird last year in the afternoon in that hole.

Shortly after calling (and no gobbles), I saw a bobcat pop out on the ridge logging road about 300 yds away. He slowly made his way down the road toward me. At about 100 yds, he veered off into the woods. I yelped again, and he popped out and came on. I took the safety off just in case he was really stupid. He stopped and went on his haunches at about 20 yds. I had the crosshairs on his throat. I've never killed a bobcat, but may in the future as I continue to see the turkey populations go down in that area. There are a lot of factors, but, predators are certainly one.

But, he wasn't legal to shoot right now, so he got a walk this time. When I waved my hand at him, he hauled tail. It was a big cat.

No doubt, the bobcats have greatly adapted over the past couple decades,
to focus more on hunting turkeys.

I used to seldom see a bobcat during daylight.
Now they are commonly seen at all times of day.

No accident that big cat "responded" to your hen calls.
He was turkey hunting.

Had one come in on me couple years ago. Sure wish it was legal to kill one during season

Had one ruin a hunt on a giant tom 20 years ago. Had a bird I'd hunted all season finally commit, was coming to me, then a bobcat jumped out of downed treetop and rip a few tail feathers out of my gobbler when he was 50y away. They both lived, the bobcat was that devil turkeys guardian angel.
