I keep getting questions about how I mount cameras on crooked trees or odd locations, so here's what I use. I hate to "endorse" a particular product, but I REALLY like these Slate River mounts. I keep ordering more.

I think I've got 8 now, and just ordered a couple more. For $20, sure beats jamming sticks under a camera to try and tilt it up or down or sideways.

Very simple, easy, any angle.
They are the "stuff" for a quick on the fly set-up.

That said, I'm placing most my cams in steel boxes now.
A little more time consumptive, but much more secure,
and coon-proof.

Sometimes, a raccoon will climb onto the Slate River mounts and knock them another direction.
Not often, but I have one location where they have a den tree and were messing it up near daily.
Steel box solved that problem.

I went to the local hardware store and found some hollow metal rods about 4 foot long. Got two eye hooks and put one in the threaded rod. The other fits the camera. Putting a bolt thru the eye hooks allows you to set whatever angle you need. Made step looking thing so I could mash it in the ground. Works great when I don't have a tree available.

Here's what I built. Maybe $10. Works great in field edges.
