Had the chance to camp with my 12 yr old this week. Was more than a little intresting. I managed to kill one bird last Monday and after that we were skunked, birds would not gobble for nothing. We did have a great time watched movies, ate like pigs, roasted some of time from the heat then froze Friday and Saturday night, Ahh memories to be sure. I only get to spend a few weeks a year with him so I really enjoy all the time I get. We did how ever run into something that really upset me. Friday after noon we got on a big Tom, he had a rope for a beard just huge hens led him away so after they cleard the area I told him lets go scout it a little and low and behold some one had baited the area with corn! Now mind you this is on a WMA we were hunting so we high tailed it way from there. Its sorry as heck people do that, there was no nead just because the birds were not gobbling was no reason to cheat now theres no way we can hunt that area. Man it ticks me off. I only got a couple weeks a year so now we have to relocate. I called the Warden and they seemed like they didnt even really cared even told them I would meet them and show it to them, they didnt even care or so it seemed like they could find 1 pile of corn in the middle of the woods. Some lady asked me wheres it at how do you explain it? just past the 4th oak on the left? Well any way sorry so long all and all was a great week. Sorry for the windy post!!

It's great you got to spend time with your boy for a week regardless if you done a lot of good hunting or not. Just to spend that quality time with your little boy makes it a successful hunt in my book. good post........BTW I didn't hear the first bird gobble yesterday morning either. I know there were at least 1 or 2 gobblers roosted where I hunted. They were just mute.
