Took a doe yesterday. Perfect shot placement. Doe standing still. Entered on the right side on a downward track at rear center of shoulder about 4 inches from the bottom of the chest and exited through bottom of left shoulder breaking the left leg. Upon cleaning the heart was totally destroyed with some lung damage. The doe still managed to run around 25 yds into a dry stream bed and then almost up a 4 ft bank. I have lost track of the number of deer I have killed through the years but it still amazes me at the damage they can take before they go down.

They seem to have an amazing will to survive, definitely tough animals.
My boy killed one on Juvenile weekend. Lungs were nothing but mush and the back side of the heart had a hole in it. She ran about 80 yards. I am amazed by deer every year.
They can total a Camry and not be found.
