Can't shake the monkey

Typically me and my old man are done by now and are enjoying the season taking others. Well we are still goose egged for the yr. Got one to commit this morning and old man whiffed. Been rough. I later called in a couple jakes after we split up and as much as I wanted to just to get the monkey off I let them pass on by. Still plugging away though it's gonna happen.

Awe Yea these last few wks should be fun. Honestly I haven't hunted for myself this late in many yrs but have called in some great hunts for others. This yr has definitely made me appreciate all the previous ones I will say that.

The turkey gods offered you a jake and you turned it down? Sometimes you just have lower your standards ! J/K good luck. I've had those seasons. One year I almost limited out the last week.

Haha. Yea I think it was more of the turkey gods testing my resolve. My last jake was my first one back in '99 and honestly after my dad missed I watched the neighbor shot a jake and there was no way in the world I was shooting another one.

That's what I used to say, then I had one of those years from Hades. After 4 weeks of misery, I took out my frustration on one, and never looked back. It has been several years since I shot one, but I learned to never say never, as I reserve the right if the need arises in dire circumstances !

Yea just can't get fired up about smoking some wandering jakes. Just seems to have been a weird yr all the way around for my crew. It's gonna get done though.
