CARPET MILL BOW TARGETS

When I worked in archery store, last year the guy we had been getting them from said he couldn't get them anymore. I never heard the whole story. But I think the carpet manufacturer found a more profitable outlet for the excess material.

I was told "no" as well when I asked at Benton a few weeks ago. Those targets were dabomb. We still have one of the harder packed ones we bought 10-12 years ago that is still going strong that has REALLY stopped thousands of arrows. The last one I bought though was a softer one and it didn't make it but about 4 years before we started to shoot through it. I still wanted a couple of them for my range though.

I think Tndeer Member "Greg" might still have some at his Outdoor Shop in Crossville called Outdoor Connection!

Atleast he did 2 weeks ago!!!

How are those targets made? I work in Dalton and have limited access to carpet remnants. I may be able to buy larger amounts. I will find out.

Do these carpet targets do a good job in stopping field points and broadheads also??? do you just stack them and them wrachet them down tight??? You might want to contact Home Depot or Lowes and get the number to a couple of their contractors or find a contractor on your own and ask if you can have some scraps just a thought.....

The carpet targets aren't layered targets...I think they actually made them with the excess goop that they compressed. Basically they are one bit heavy lump of foamish type material. I bet the ones we have will weigh 100 pounds or better. We've shot ours with everything imaginable...even rifles. Best targets you can buy if you can still get them.

DeerGuy, No. There is no carpet at all in the target. It is the grey foam backing that the manufacturer sprays on the back of the carpet. It is a rubber foam. The excess is sprayed into a cardboard box lined with plastic and allowed to solidify. This makes a very dense foam block that weighs a ton. But, it stops a broadhead within an inch or two when new. You can shoot field point also, but they are pretty difficult to pull out. They are great broadhead target butts.

This is what I thought ya'll meant about carpet mill target

No we are talking about a different type of target. The one you posted here is also a great butt for field points only though.
